Learn About Coach Johnson
David Wallace, EFASC President
David possesses a unique combination of athletic ability,
professional experience and educational history that qualifies him as President of Education First Athletic Second Coalition. He received his undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Recreation from William Penn University located in Oskaloosa, Iowa. His
collegiate experience not only included the graduation requirements for Physical Education and Recreation but David completed an extensive training program required for his basketball scholarship. David’s athletic career consists of eight years of organized sports
during his high school and college years that included basketball, cross country, track and other intramural sports. David was invited to try-outs for the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1992.
David has over 10 years experience working with Not-for-Profit, community-based organizations. His illustrious career began with a college internship in 1992 as Project Director for the Oskaloosa, Iowa YMCA. There he was responsible for implementing multiple after
school program for youth 5-12 years of age and adults. These programs included event planning, marketing, developing and disseminating PSA’s, recruiting and hiring staff, Youth Lock-ins, Father-Son Basketball League, writing fitness plans and instructing strength
training classes.
As the President of EFASC, David coupled his love for athletics and youth and wrote the business plan. He annually revises the strategic plan for the coalition to ensure growth and organizational development. He has been successful in securing funds for grants,
donated equipment and volunteer time. David recruited and assembled a highly qualified Board of Directors and has created numerous partnerships with the corporate community, surrounding school districts, churches and other community organizations. He also wrote the
curriculums for all academic and athletic programs for all age groups.

Coach Darryl Johnson
Darryl Johnson is no stranger to the sports world. He has spent many
years playing, coaching and refereeing both basketball and football.
Darryl Johnson graduated from Frank H. Morrell High School in Irvington,
New Jersey where he was a two star athlete in basketball and football
during 1981 - 1983. He then went on to Earl C. Clements Jr College as a
two star athlete in basketball and football during 1986 – 1988.
Darryl joined the military in 1988, where he joined the Army basketball
team in 1990 and played for them, stateside, through 1995. While
stationed overseas, he played in Germany from 1995 to 1997. When Darryl
returned to the US ,he continued playing for the Army basketball team,
1997 thru 1999.
Darryl has always had a passion for working with youth and a desire to
train them to be better athletes as well as teaching them the
fundamentals of life. Darryl played an instrumental role with the
Washington DC boys and girls club as a coach and a referee. He taught
young inner city children the value of respect, education and working
hard.
Darryl eventually relocated to Kansas where he continued his sports
career with his involvement in the following:

Coached for KC Premiere from 2005 – 2008

Coached Sophomore boys team for KC Greyhounds 2006 – 2007
•
Coached 9th grade boys basketball team at St Mary’s High School 2008 –
2009
•
Organized and Coached Freshman boys team for KC Greyhounds 2009

Assistant Coach KC STARS ABA Pro Basketball Team
Throughout his career, while coaching and playing sports, Darryl also
has been an accomplished High School and College Official for the past
16 years.
Darryl Johnson has been a teacher and role model for many youth as well
as his own children, preparing them for their future career in sports
and teaching them the values of life.
